Helping the environment
Leaving a green, steel-toed cap boot-print, on the planet
DJP Scenery is proud to be a sustainable business. We understand that we have a social and environmental responsibility to reduce waste during prep, shoot and strike.
At DJP Scenery we are committed to being as sustainable as possible and can proudly say that all the trade products we use are from ethical sources.
Our primary timber supplier James Mansfield Timber, offer certified products backed by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), as well as the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification. (PEFC).
Our paint supplier is Mylands, a London based paint manufacturer who produce eco friendly, water based paints, that are also widely used throughout the film and HETV industry.
All leftover or surplus paint is either stored or reused as base coats where possible.
We also use Hazgreen Ltd, who are licensed by the environment Agency and specialise in the recycling of all paint containers and the disposal of any hazardous waste.
Where possible, we try to re-purpose any scenery we can (ensuring overall set designs are not compromised in the process), which further reduces waste, recycling and is also cost efficient in helping the production budget go further.
When striking sets, we’ll store any stock flattage, flooring, doors and windows, along with any special made or bespoke elements, which can be re-purposed or re-designed to be used again at a later date.
Any scenery elements that we cannot re-use or alter etc. are sent to Powerday, who operate the largest recycling facility in the South East. Since 2006 they have invested heavily in leading technologies to divert 100% of waste from landfill.
